About LIVE NOG
LiveNOG is a project initiated by SANOG in 2025, with its inaugural session held during npNOG 10 in Pokhara. The initiative is supported by the Internet Society (ISOC), Amazon, the Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC)—potentially including Gaurab Raj Upadhaya—and the Nepal Research and Education Network (NREN). Smaller NOGs are struggling to get proper streaming for their events and figuring out the combination of PCs, cameras etc. YouTube (and possible other sites like Twitch) make it easy to stream and store a copy. The talks (specially conference) talks from these events are valuable local knowledge that gets lost - as it doesn't get archived properly. The SANOG Secretariat (NREN/NPIX) have built a sub $500 Kit that can take multiple camera inputs, and publish to Youtube (and your favorite CDN). The LiveNOG session at APRICOT 2025 took place on February 25 as a Birds of a Feather (BoF) meeting. The session focused on streaming technologies for Network Operator Groups (NOGs) and brought together network operators and technical professionals to explore innovations, operational challenges, and best practices in livestreaming infrastructure and collaboration for NOGs globally.
